Entry classes (NZSS Rogaine Champs)
All students will compete in 3-hour rogaine in teams of 2-3.
All rogaine entries will be made individually in the entry system; formation of teams will be done later.

Entry process
Student entries are normally made by the school sports coordinator. Payment is made by the school and the school collects the individual payments from each student.
Please be responsible when choosing which class to enter a student. Orienteering is a challenging sport and not as much fun when you can’t complete a course because it is too hard. For the Long event, if a student has not completed a course at the Championship level for their age group, then they should enter the Standard class.
If unsure on what class to enter, please read the technical difficulty section on the FAQ page before entering and advise your sport coordinator.
Note: The school principal's sign-off is the school's formal acknowledgement that it has assessed the risks involved and understands the reasonable steps taken to manage them. The Hazard and Risk Management (HARM) forms for each day of competition will be available at the bottom of the Programme page in the weeks preceding the event if required.
Relay teams and rogaine teams
Entry for the team events (orienteering relay and rogaine) should be included in the individual student’s entry. Teams do not have to be confirmed at the time of entry.
Students should not be put off entering if they are not sure of forming a team from their school: composite teams are encouraged and will run in a non-championship event.
Payments
Payment will be accepted from the school by credit card during the entry process.
Entries will only be finalised after payment has been made and and the signed SSNZ roster has been emailed to [email protected]

These events have been sanctioned by School Sports NZ: to place in the Championships, students must meet the criteria set out in the 2026 School Sport NZ Eligibility regulations . However PAPO is committed to running these events in an inclusive and accessible way, to grow participation of young people in navigation sport.
Students who do not meet the SSNZ criteria will have an opportunity to run on all four days, and are encouraged to do so. Although they will not be eligible for placing in the Championships, they will be recognised appropriately.

To satisfy SSNZ requirements for the championship events, a SSNZ roster must be completed and signed by the school principal to confirm all competitors meet the SSNZ eligibility criteria. To do this:

Cancellations and refunds
In the unlikely event that the Championships are cancelled due to extreme weather or other factors outside of our control, entry fees will be refunded at 90% (with the balance withheld to cover non-recoverable costs). For competitors who are unable to attend due to injury or illness, the following refunds apply:
Refunds will be processed after the event.
Grade changes, SI number changes, start time requests
To request a change to an entry, such as grade or SI number, fill out the NZSS 2026 change form prior to Friday 3rd July.
Start time requests for the Long and Sprint events can also entered on this form. Note that start time requests cannot be guaranteed.

- Choose the school in the dropdown and click ‘List’ to display a list of students entered.
- Provide an email address to receive the Registration Form pdf.
- Follow the instructions on the pdf and email the scanned document to [email protected] by 11.59pm Monday 29th June.

- We are also not able to offer refunds for “no shows”.
